Poor Quality Health Care Accounts For 30% of Health Care Costs: MBGH Study

Poor quality health care, in the form of preventable errors and over-, under-, and misused tests, treatment, and procedures, costs the typical employer $1,700 to $2,000 per employee per year, according to a study recently released by the Midwest Business Group on Health (MBGH) and the Juran Institute, an independent research and performance improvement organization. Those costs include an average of $350 to $650 of indirect costs due to lost workdays.
