Supreme Court Rules that employer does not have to override its seniority system to accommodate disabled employee:
The U.S. Supreme Court recently ruled that an employer does not have to override its seniority system to accommodate a disabled employee's request for a different job. This is significant since if an accommodation request violates a bona fide seniority system, the accommodation is not required. Additionally, this decision applies to both the union and nonunion employers. Potential Exception: if you frequently make exceptions to your seniority system, then one more exception won't be deemed unreasonable.
