Communication Workshop

Objective:
The participant will look at the communication model to better understand both the sender's and receiver's responsibilities in the communication flow. Then they will address the importance of giving effective constructive and positive feedback, resulting in keeping communication lines open.

Process:

  1. Identify the responsibility level of the sender and the receiver
  2. Identify barriers that interrupt communication flow
  3. Complete the Communication Model to identify how we communicate and how to be sure it is productive
  4. Identify the 4 types of feedback, their purpose and impact
  5. Address how to give feedback - constructive and positive
  6. Identify the difference between talking in abstractions or identifying behaviors
  7. Identify statements that could cause defensive responses and break down communication
  8. Learn how to receive feedback effectively
  9. Practice giving feedback
Outcome:
The participant should have a clearer understanding of the communication path and how they can give effective feedback to others to get the results needed to accomplish tasks and to reach goals.
